Chat language has no impact on children’s spelling ability

Most of parents were concerned on their children’s spelling problem seriously. They accuse of chat language that it is cause of poor spelling ability. From adult’s rule which created by adult’s requirement, said that if parents do not like something, their children do not like them too. The ancient rule is not fair for new users who mostly are children. Most of parents who disagree with chat text may be the one who never use it before, and think that chat language is bad way for development of children’s language skill and causes of poor speller. If you think the same as prior sentence, you are back in Mammoth era again because all of parents should not create negative results which exhibit that chat language is the major cause of bad spelling ability from daily life, values and some parents do not ever know it. On the other hand, Researcher found that many children who use chat text everyday can pass the spelling test in class easier. There are many reasons to prove that chat language has no impact on children’s spelling ability. Children can apply chat language everyday without effect on spelling ability and can you guess that what major causes of poor speller on children are? Do you want to prove with me together?

Parents observe their children that they spent many times for using instant message with chat language approximately 5 hours per day and they are the first warning sign for poor speller. It is not true because most of parents do not know that the youth can adapt their language for different situation. Researchers from University of Alberta prove that children who use chat language everyday can pass the spelling test in class completely. As same as Berko Gleason, the researcher from Children’s development website said that the youth can adapt their language for different audiences such as friend, parents and teacher. Children use SMS language or chatting language to their friend, because they have freedom to use everything that they want, and they understand on their language in social network. On the other hand, when they are talking with their mom, dad or teacher, they will adapt a language to be common language, because they know that if they speak with chat text, their audiences will misunderstand them. Moreover, language in class is developed their spelling because they apply native language in their work such as home work, presentation, reading and essay writing. Nobody kill themselves by using it for deduction of points. Now, if many parents think that children spent 5 hours for chat language that make them to be poor speller, but 19 hours rest are improved children’s spelling skill.

People always think that chat language is the virus which was made pure children to be poor speller, and parents make many scopes to control their youth. It is wrong solution. They do not change their view to their children first. There are many causes for being poor speller in children. First, according to Richard Gentry who wrote “The Science of Spelling” said that Dyslexia is major cause of poor speller. Many children may get dyslexia from genes of parents or damage in their brain. It was made children difficult to reading, writing and spelling in native language. Next, learning style, it is very important because most of children in the world cannot find the way to learn in class. Some of children do not attend on a teacher in class that make a cause of children’s wrong spelling ability, because they misunderstand the correct spelling from teacher, and they will use it in a wrong way. Lastly, Society and Family, They are one of major problem in poor spelling ability in children. When the youth is hearing the wrong spelling words from their friends or their family everyday, they will apply it in the wrong way easier. As same as many parents said that, their children will remember everything that they listen and apply frequently. Parents should change their views to focus on children first, and do not accuse of chat language only.

Most of parents think that chat language has impact on spelling ability of children, but nobody can prove that it is true. There is no evidence show that chatting abbreviation is major cause to make children be poor speller. On the other hand, chat language is the good way for spelling improvement on children, because Dr. Clare Wood from Coventry University studies that, when children want to know the meaning of chat language, they must decode the chat words to know meaning. It is exhibited that children seek more knowledge and find many ways to know them. So while children decode meaning, their brain is analyzed again and again, that make children improve their spelling skill. As same as when they see chat words again, their brain will remind itself to remember full meaning of chat words well. It was improved their spelling ability too much. It was observed that students who used chat language develop their spelling skill from 21% in Year 4, to 47% in Year 6. They are exhibited that children can get successful to spelling by using chat language every day.

Now, your brain is coming to modern era. All of reasons show that chat language has no impact on children’s spelling ability. Parents should not focus on chat language only because the poor spelling ability was appeared in children’s brain or environment, and chat language was improved the youth to be good speller extremely. However, you must eliminate bad attitude on chat language and bring your children to use it in good ways because chat language gave them too much knowledge more than you ever know before. Remember, chat language is only text, it is not weapon for destroy.
